Contrary to the popular perception, Latinx Literature is not just magical realism and social realist literature—Latinx authors have made use of multiple genres. My work on Latinx literature and culture examines how science fiction, fantasy, and digital culture have been used to express the experience of migration and being bi-cultural, critical issues in the cross-hairs of national politics today. By showing the actual breadth of genres being used by Latinx authors, my work is helping to extend the boundaries of the Latinx literature canon.
